  • Same size and ratio for featured images in standard blog/archive view?

    John Stevenson

    Is there a way to crop featured images so that they are the same ratio/size on the standard blog/archive/author/etc. pages? I believe this was done for some of your other themes that I’ve used in the past. My featured images aren’t always the same ratio, so I like to have a more consistent and uniform look.

    Thank you in advance for any assistance!

    Hi John!

    If you run the regenerate thumbnails plugin: it should turn featured images into the same size.

    If this doesn’t work, try installing and activating this plugin: and then run the regen thumbs plugin. Alx Extensions plugin upscales featured images that are too small and then crops them, so small images don’t have a strange size.

    I’m using the standard blog layout. It looks like it’s pulling in the blogstreampro-large” thumbnail which is 610×343 pixels. If I wanted to make that larger, would update/add that line to the functions.php in my child theme? Thank you for your help!

    You would need to put the whole function in your child theme’s functions.php. With full function, I mean this

    Then you can just edit whatever image sizes you want there, and then run the regenerate thumbnails plugin.

    Ok great. I will try that.

    On a related note, is there a way to not have the featured image appear at the top of every post?

    If you want to remove the featured image from appearing at top of every single post, you would need to edit single.php and remove this from line 27:

    <?php the_post_thumbnail('blogstreampro-large'); ?>

    Got it. Thanks so much for your help!

    Glad I could help!
