Download the Alx Extensions plugin: https://wordpress.org/plugins/alx-extensions/ , and then use the Alx Posts widget to show featured in the sidebar.

To show featured, simply create a category named featured and put the posts you wish to feature in it.

Category display is now applied to the site bar.
However, categories are output in list format.

Not sure if I understand you correctly, but try the Alx Tabs widget if you want a thumbnail-list output. Is that what you mean?

The loading speed of the website with the theme applied is too slow. Sometimes it takes more than 20 seconds to access the site and load the site. Is there a way to apply a theme and set the site loading speed faster?
